Employee Retention Credit Analysis

Our Service

We specialize in Employee Retention Credit analysis, and handle the paperwork for you.  The CARES Act signed by Congress in March 2020 gave birth to the Paycheck Protection Program Loans, which if used for 'qualified expenses' were forgivable loans not needing repaid.  That same legislation included other provisions, including the Employee Retention Credit, ERC for short. Initially in the CARES Act, if you received PPP funds you were not eligible for the ERC credit. HOWEVER, the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Relief Act of 2020 (Relief Act) allowed eligible employers to claim both ERC and PPP funds RETROACTIVELY to the CARES Act date.  The Relief act also funded round 2 PPP draws, and extended the ERC credits into 2021.

The ERC is as valuable, or more valuable to our clients than the PPP loans in most cases, yielding more funds than the PPP loans received.  After the CARES Act, there were a slew of changes, which most business owners were not able to understand and keep up with.  We have extensive knowledge on these changes, monitored them, changed our processes to maintain compliance, and keep our clients informed as we go through the ERC filing process from start to finish.

Businesses can qualify one of 2 ways: A gross receipts reduction or shutdown related to a COVID gov't order.  The gross receipts test is more straight forward, but the shutdowns in relation to a COVID gov't order has hundreds of ways to qualify a business. We have read all of the qualifications, IRS updates, Notices, and Examples, so we know a business can qualify, even if their current advisors or team have said they are not qualified. We have helped file over $1M in credits for clients who were said 'My CPA says I don't qualify' which was incorrect.  We have also reviewed a few cases from clients who used another service, and seen shortfalls of tens of thousands of dollars, and those firms charged double the fee we would've charged.

Make no mistake about these credits, they are complex, intricate, and the analysis is not straight forward.  If you use a CPA, bookkeeper, payroll processor, or internal accountant, they likely do not have the skillset to do proper analysis to maximize the credits.  A CPA focuses on tax, likely helped with PPP, but is likely not involved in payroll. A bookkeeper knows accounting, not tax or payroll, and likely does not understand the PPP forgiveness rules.  Payroll processors likely do not know the PPP forgiveness rules, and will short the ERC credits by allocating too much wages to PPP forgiveness incorrectly.  Internal accountants, are likely more concerned with managing the business day to day, and won't be able to analyze all these pieces correctly for maximum ERC credit.

We look at PPP forgiveness to make sure to achieve full PPP forgiveness, while maximizing ERC credits, and provide 100% audit representation for our work in case of an IRS audit. We are a member of your team, and will stand behind our work.   You do not pay us until you receive your funds from the IRS, and if for some reason the funds are not received, we will represent you to receive your funds from the IRS.  We charge HALF of what most of the industry is charging clients, and it is only a small fee compared to the credits received. We are here to help be a part of your team, not take advantage of you, and we are here to stay in the industry.  Focused on tax representation and consulting, we will not be 'here today, gone tomorrow' leaving you to represent yourself if an IRS audit does occur.

Steps to Completion

We keep the process simple for you, and handle the complex analysis to submit the credits to the IRS on your behalf. Its as easy as 1-2-3.

Step 1

First we do an initial interview, and questionnaire with basic information about your business to get some insight to qualifications for ERC credits.

Step 2

Once we determine you have qualification potential, we gather the payroll documentation, PPP information, and other details needed to complete the analysis.

Step 3

Once we have the calculation complete, and reviewed, we sign our contract to allow us to submit to the IRS for processing on your behalf.

Client Testimonials

Woman in Yellow

Michael Lund was extremely helful in processing our ERC credit, he explained the entire process, helped us gather the payroll documents required and filed the credits on our behalf.  Without him, we wouldn't have know about the ERC credit, which was over $50,000 for only one quarter.

Amy Barton, Controller
